About us

Barkada in Tagalog means "a group of friends." We are a group of friends whose aim is to promote the recognition and understanding of the Pilipino culture at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and our surrounding Community.

Why Barkada?

Barkada offers a myriad of activities for it's members. Through the aspects of academics, cultural, athletics and social, Barkada offers something for everybody.

As a nonprofit organization, many look forward to the large events that Barkada participates in such as Friendship Games, Sportsfest, and PACN amongst others. In adittion, Barkada also provides a close-knit, fun and friendly structure through families, intramurals and many other programs.

For those into entertainment, Barkada provides two avenues for dance, cultural and modern, along with its very own choir. Barkada Entertainment Company focuses on the rich hertiage and beauty of traditional Pilipino cultural dances while Barkada Modern demostrates the youthful experssion of hip-hop dance. P-Notes is Barkada's choir which sings at many events. Then there is the new group forming and it is a group for the instrumentally inclined, which is Barkada Band.

Get Involved

Barkada general meetings are held every thursday of the quarter during University Hour (12pm-1pm) @ the Bronco bookstore (Building 66-for those of you that haven't bought a book yet, it's at Building 66!), Room 202 (second floor). Hope to see you all there! Come on you know you want to! ^__^
